Flower: Nature's Silent Philosopher
If we were to choose a small, living preacher of nature, it would undoubtedly be the flower. It doesn't speak, it doesn't preach, or write any treatises; yet, in its short life, it teaches what a human being cannot learn even in a lifetime.
The flower's life is fleeting. It knows full well that it will wither away in a few days. Yet, it neither mourns its short life nor loses the beauty of the present in fear of the future. As long as it lives, it blooms with all its energy, smiling, and spreading its fragrance all around.
Humans, on the contrary, often lose the present in worries about the future and regrets about the past. The flower teaches us that it's not the length of life, but the quality of life that matters.
The flower's second message is even more profound. It is often born among thorns. Thorns are its neighbors, yet it does not become like them. It doesn't give up its tenderness, doesn't lose its fragrance, and doesn't forget its smile.
This scene seems to be nature saying—
"Circumstances may surround you, but don't let them settle within you."
Today, the world is rife with thorns of bitterness, jealousy, selfishness, and anger. If a human being can live amidst them and spread the fragrance of love, compassion, and harmony, only then will his life be truly successful.
A flower is not only beautiful; it is also the basis of creation. Its pollen produces fruits, seeds, and new generations. It itself doesn't live long, but it leaves behind the future.
This is greatness—living not for itself, but for generations to come.
A flower doesn't ask for a price for its fragrance. It doesn't care who comes to it—king or beggar, gentleman or villain. Its fragrance is the same for everyone.
Can a human being become like this?
Can our love, our respect, our compassion, and our help reach everyone without discrimination?
If yes, then we will no longer be mere humans, but will become carriers of humanity.
Ultimately, the flower teaches us one ultimate truth:
Life is not immortal, but the fragrance of our actions can be.
Even when a flower falls, its fragrance lingers in our memory. Similarly, when a great person departs this world, it is not their body, but their good deeds, their love, their humility, and their character that live on in society.
Therefore, the goal of life should not be merely to survive; the goal should be to live a life whose fragrance remains in people's hearts even after we are gone.
It is not difficult to become a flower. What is difficult is to preserve our fragrance even while living among thorns. This is the highest path of life's spiritual practice.
